Day 6 : humility and service

Il y a plus de joie à donner qu’à recevoir. Suis-le !

He came to Simon Peter who said to him, « Are you going to wash my feet Lord ? » Jesus answered him, « you do not understand now what I am doing, but you will understand later. » Peter declared, « never at anytime will you wash my feet ! » « If I do not wash your feet, » Jesus answered, « you will no longer be my disciples. »(…) « I, your Lord and Teacher, have just washed your feet. You then should wash one another’s feet. I have set an example for you, so that you will do just what I have done for you. » (John 13 : 8-15).

Do not fear !

There is more joy in giving than in receiving. Follow him !

Word of Claude

« My brothers, love one another ! » the old saint John gave a reminder, according to saint Jerôme : « It is the commandment of our good teacher and if we do it, everything is done. »
What a fine reason, for us to love our brothers ! It should, so it seems to me, make a great impression on our hearts and minds ! Children of Jesus Christ and of his Church,…isn’t it enough for you to remember that it was recommended by our good Teacher, that it is the thing that he held most dearly in his heart, that he declared before dying that this was the only thing he would ask of us , that it is the only reward that he requires from us for everything that he has done for us. »
