« We write to you about the Word of Life, which has existed from the very beginning. We have heard it, and we have seen it with our own eyes ; yes, we have seen it, and our hands have touched it. When this life became visible, we saw it, so we speak of it and tell you about the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made known to us. What we have seen and heard, we announce to you. » (John 1)
Mary and Joseph were the first to have « touched » the Holy Word made flesh. And when you contemplate the mysteries of Mary, you notice that, after the Annunciation, she knows her Son within her womb first of all, and essentially through his Sacred Heart. In fact the first perception that she receives from the Word made flesh are the beatings of the Heart of her Son within her. « This Heart which from the moment of the Annunciation begins to beat within her virginal breast » (John Paull II, Angelus).
