" Here is the sanctuary of divine Love ; here is the unquenchable source of life. Since we came to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, it is good for us to be here. Here is the mysterious door through which we can enter the paradise of Your Heart of a King, a Brother and a Friend, O very merciful Jesus. In Heaven, You have already written our names with indelible letters. May You achieve for us, who are hidden in this intimate wound, that we may be eternally united to You in a life of sanctity, thirsting for Your glory, in love for redemption. Long live the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus May His Kingdom come; " (Father Mateo).
Father Mateo Crawley-Boevey (kneeling, on the right, looking at the people).
He has not been beatified. He was born on November 18th 1875, near Arequipa, in Peru, and he was called back to God on May 4th 1960, in Valparaiso, in Chile.
He is the founder of the congregation of the “Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary”, more commonly known as “Picpussiens”. He did his first pilgrimage in Paray-le-Monial in August 1907. As he was ill and completely exhausted, he knelt praying in the Chapel of Apparitions, and finds out he is miraculously healed when he gets up. He is then ready to start the great adventure for which he was called : the enthronement of the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in family homes and religious communities, together with the enthronement of the devotees to the Sacred Heart.
Before leaving Paray, he has a commemorative plaque fixed above the porch of the chapel. The words date from September 1st 1907.
