« My Lord, I beg You, may the passionate and gentle strength of your love take hold of my soul and remove it from all that is under heaven, so I may die out of love of your love, as You deigned die out of love of my love. Amen” (“total self offering” of Saint Francis of Assisi).
Saint Francis of Assisi (on the left, below Saint John).
He was born in Assisi in 1181 or 1182 and he was called back to God in 1226. His feast day is on October 4th.
His conversion brought about a radical life change. He founds the Men’s Order of Friars Minor who will later on bear the name of “Franciscans”. Seized by the Love of Christ, he begs Him to have a share in His Passion ; the Lord gives him the grace to receive the stigmata in his body : the five wounds, including the slash on the side. Why have his representation on the wall painting ? On the day of his feast day (4th October), Margaret Mary has a vision of him, and Jesus reveals to her that this Saint is especially close to His Sacred Heart. The Lord gives Saint Francis as a spiritual guide to the Visitation sister, beyond the centuries and beyond the invisible.
